A landscape is often the quiet jewel of a property — the place where daily life unfolds and the rhythm of a home extends outdoors. It may be where families gather on warm evenings, where children play under the shade of a tree, or where friends linger a little longer around a fire as the sun sets. It’s a space that becomes part of the life of a home or property, and where the passage of time is marked by the growth of trees and gardens.
Sometimes it’s a simple question — “What kind of tree is that?” — that reminds us how a landscape reveals itself over time, inviting curiosity and connection to the plants and spaces that surround us.
At Bertilacchi Landscape, we understand that these spaces become part of the story of a place. Our work begins with the hope that the landscapes we build will not only grow and mature with time, but also become the setting for the moments people remember most.
In many ways, Bertilacchi Landscape has grown in much the same way — shaped over time by experience, by the people behind the work, and by the landscapes created throughout California’s Central Coast.

The roots of Bertilacchi Landscape began long before the company itself was formed. Growing up farming on the islands of California’s Delta, Christopher Bertilacchi developed an early respect for soil, plants, and the patience required to watch things grow over time.
When he later moved to the Central Coast, he began working in landscaping in the simplest way possible — mowing lawns and taking on small landscape jobs while building a modest business of his own. Those early years working directly in people’s yards helped shape a practical understanding of the work long before formal training.
That experience eventually led him to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where he earned a degree in horticulture. During and after his time there, Christopher continued working in landscaping and later joined one of the region’s largest landscape companies, gaining experience across nearly every part of the trade — from installation and planting to project management.
Over time, those years of hands-on work and horticultural training laid the foundation for Bertilacchi Landscape, a company built on the belief that successful landscapes combine thoughtful planting with careful craftsmanship.
